The Dataflyer Plus, Dataflyer 500 and Dataflyer 1000 are all essentially the same device. The Dataflyer Plus is actually a half length Zorro II card, but it was supplied with a case when used with the A500 and the A1000. The external unit can be powered directly from the A500 and A1000, or powered via an optionally available external PSU. The Dataflyer was available in three different combinations. These were SCSI only, IDE only and both SCSI & IDE. Versions with SCSI contained a 50pin internal SCSI connector, and 26pin SCSI passthrough which attaches to an external DB25 SCSI connector via a ribbon cable so you can use external devices. Versions with IDE have a single 40pin (3.5" IDE) connector. The Dataflyer supports Autobooting which can be switched off, by holding down a mousebutton at boot time. The Dataflyers which contain the PLUS designation are believed to be the same product as those which do not have it, but are newer versions. An optional RAM board was also available, which can be piggybacked onto the Dataflyer, or used as a Zorro II card in it's own right, in big box Amigas. When the Dataflyer is used as a Zorro II card, the hard drive can be mounted directly to the circuit board, on the opposite side to where the RAM board attaches.
